I had the pleasure of joining the design team in the final months of a six year R&D project to redesign the UK Ambulances. Through a unique inclusive design approach the project is redesigning the entire system of mobile health care, reducing pressure on hospitals and paramedics, improving safety and dignity of patients as well as reassessing issues of hygiene, maintenance, and stock management.

  • ah, people are so quick to judge. The process has involved 6 years of exploring ambulances, creating direct responses to concerns raised by patients and paramedics. I think they stepped in and out of a couple. Again, if you're generally interested in why some of the choices have been made you may be less quick to judge. Anyway, that's enough from me.

  • Glad this is a UK ambulance redesign not a US ambulance redesign its obvious these guys have never been in an ambulance before

  • The video was created for an exhibition which contained the full scale prototype, it purpose of the video was to show instillation. If you're actually interested in seeing more of the design details you can follow the project on the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design website

  • three and a half minute video with 15 seconds of actually showing us what was in it....

  • I don't like it.
