"Threnody" derives from the Greek words "threnos", meaning "wailing", and "oide", meaning "ode", the two together translating into "a song of lamentation". Threnody was composed by Admiral M.L. Usni Pramoj who was also a conductor in the premier performance by Galyani Vadhana Institute Orchestra on May 6th, 2009 at Mahisorn Hall, Siam Commercial Bank, Head Office. This Threnody was composed as a humble tribute to the memory of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana.
