On June 14th, 2008 a plot to surprise my girlfriend came to fruition. After much planning, and with the assistance of her brother (Jack) and sister-in-law (Jen), the day finally arrived when I would ask my girlfriend to marry me.

She was convinced I wouldn't ask until sometime between August '08 and May '09, and I was driven to make sure I did it before then.

The plan went off without a hitch:
A week prior, I scouted some locations, and chose a quaint little park in Nahant, called Marjoram Park. Using my GPS, I got the coordinates of the spot, and gave them to Jack, who is usually the planner of our geocaching trips.

The morning of the proposal day, Jen took Wendy to a yoga class so I could go over to her house and ask her parents' blessing, which they happily gave.

After yoga, Wendy and Jen returned home, and I was already there. We were told 10:30 am would be the start time. I showed up "late" but they got back from the class later. After Wendy and Jen got changed, we left to have some lunch, and start what Wendy thought would be a day filled with geocaching...

***For those that don't know, geocaching is sort of like scavenger hunting with the use of a GPS.

  • @TheBgbrush Uhhhh... Then I'd be a huge douchecanoe.

  • Damn she must really love him, how sweet :]

  • @MelissaMees That she does. That she does.

  • I plan on doing this, except ring will be in the geocache container and she will be using the GPS to find it.

  • @iamthelazerviking I thought of doing that as well. I won't try to talk you out of it, but the cons far out weighted the pros. In doing that. Plus I just felt better knowing the ring was kept safe. If you happen to record it, be sure to come back and link to it!

  • "I can't even see." Those tears of joy must really have clouded her vision. Congratulations!

  • @dewerk Thanks! She said that as soon as I got down on my knee, tears started shooting out of her eyes. Projectile crying exists, apparently.
