The VBL is in service in 16 armies. It is used mainly for scouting and reconnaissance missions but it can also afford with success antitank or air defense mission. The VBL is the spearhead of the French armour units. It has been used in all operations in Africa, Lebanon, Kosovo and Afghanistan since 15 years. More than 2,300 VBL are in duty all over the world. Le VBL est en service dans 16 armées. Il est principalement utilisé pour des missions de reconnaissance et déclairage, mais il est également employé pour densifier la trame antichar ou la défense antiaérienne. Le VBL est aujourdhui le fer de lance des unités de larme blindée cavalerie française. Il a été utilisé depuis 15 ans dans toutes les opérations, en Afrique, au Liban, au Kosovo et en Afghanistan. VBL PANHARD IS ONE FROM MY FAVORITE EXPIRIENCE IN THE GREEK ARMY, WE TRAINED IN A WAR SICTUATION IN THE ISLAND OF SAMOS,AND VBL WAS THE BETTER,FAST, SMALL ARMOR VEHICLE FOR SPECIAL OPERATIONS! IT IS SMALL FOR HIDDING,AND FAST FOR DO ANYTHINK.....VIVE LA FRANCE....GREETINGS FROM GREECE !!!

We used to see these all over Kosovo.  They're great and a lot of fun, but the armor is barely enough stop harsh language, and that's about it. Still, they're great. I'd love a demilitarized surplus one of my own.
