Monday, March 21, 2005 Betty Krawczyk and Women in the Woods blockaded the Fraser Surrey Ship Docks in protest to the removal of raw logs from British Columbia, Canada. Selling our forests in raw form. What is important to note is that the police would NOT arrest her (as they did not have an injunction). Betty is currently (2007) fighting in B.C. SUPREME COURT, the use of CIVIL INJUNCTIONS to jail environmentalists without a fair trial or the use of the criminal code of Canada. She is serving a 10 month sentence over protecting Eagleridge Bluffs in the process of fighting the barbaric use of injunctions that put her there.

  • Betty Krawczyk, while I agree with your cause you are going about things the wrong way.I find you to be a nasty old hippie. Maybe if you had a family instead of spending your better years burning bra's and yapping about how your equal to any man, instead of just proving it by doing something useful in your life, you would be more happy.... hippie protests accomplish nothing.

  • I just can't help but comment that Betty does have family and her children support her and what she stands for. She is originally from the southern US and was part of the days of standing up for equality between black and white race in her community. Is that a hippie??? Was that a usefull accomplishment??

And if you ever met her she is one of the spunkiest, giggly bright people ever to meet - she would have you laughing. Hate does terrible things to a person. cheers and a smile

  • oh, and have you watched the video??

It is about selling "raw logs" where British Columbian's are loosing mill work as the result.

  • Some of them take 1000 years to be renewed!!

  • @skanky87 I really hope you are not that stupid. What I ment was after an area is clear cut, then replanted. A year later you would never know it was logged out. Yes the trees will be small, but it will look like a lot of small trees. Now, the average logging site, once replanted it grows so fast it can be logged out again in 40 to 50 years. Now, the redwoods will never be able to be replaced, but as long as it is regulated, its ok. They bring a shitload of money, who cares?

  • @gregff9966 So you are telling me that a forest that took 200 years (or in some cases 1000's of years with redwoods) to grow is cut down and in a year later is back to normal? Come on man. Planting trees afterward is great but it literally the least they could do.

  • @skanky87The bottom line is you need to do more research on logging. After a logging site is done, it is replanted, then a year later you never know what happened. Loggers take care of the land a lot better than you, that I can guarentee.

  • @gregff9966 Loggers need to be kept in check, otherwise they have literally no concern about trashing the shit out of this planet. That is the bottom line.

  • @skanky87 How am I the cunt? This bitch is stopping people from doing there job. Therefore she is a worthless piece of shit that needs to die. And same goes to you if you agree with it.

  • @gregff9966 youre a cunt

  • @digitaldebbi Betty K is a great grandmother and I am anactivist tree hugging hippie grandma and proud of it. Like Betty, I want a natural world for my children and their children and you would do well to follow her example. We HAVE TO FIGHT BACK to ensure future generations have any kind of healthy nature or even a planet in the future.
