Me showing how my internet sux for the gaming i belong to, afterhoursgaming.com

Ok, here is my problem.......

I play guild wars a lot and i used to play samp(san andreas multiplayer) and other older games, and for about 6 or 7 monthes, my internet has been acting very very weird and i have been trying to figure out whats wrong and how to fix it since it came up but still haven't found anything.

So basically ill be playing guild wars and all of a sudden i come to a slow stop, and everone else that was moving stops also. Everything is quiet, even ventrilo, but my internet is still connected to a strong connection at 54 mbps. Then, out of no where i get disconnected from ventrilo, it pops up, i lose connection in guild wars, and i get back in fine, but usually it happens again. Sometimes i wont lose connection and sometimes it will come back and ill be teleported like a mile away and then my character starts walking backwards by itself back to where i was. My ping during this will say like last ping, 90-200 ms, average, like 1000-50000. Yea, it took it 1 minute. Anyway, its really annoying. Today it was doing this at least every 10 seconds. But, it used to do this location wise. I would be fine playing on my bed and then i put the laptop on my desk, as soon as i sit down, it loses connection. I go back on the bed its fine. Usually it was bad also time wise. It would be crazy bad during the day between 11 am to 8 pm. But yesterday, it was perfect had no problems, today horible. It is very unexpected ping spikes i guess you can say, and its annoying. I thought about age if it had something to do with it and i couldnt find anything on that either. And yes.... its a dell.

for the specs(ill take it mostly off xfire)
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234)
Manufacturer:Dell Inc.
Processor:Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 502MB RAM
Hard Drive:58 GB
Video Card:Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family
Monitor:Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card:SigmaTel Audio
Its about 3 or 4 years old, cant remember.
Dell inspiron E1705
Dell 1390 wireless minicard
Belkin router
i do have windows firewall on, it still messes up while off
my router does have a firewall, and i have port forwarded, does nothing
i have a motorola cable modem, goes to a vonage booster/router, that goes to the belkin.

other notes:
it gets very hot, so hot the black paint is coming off of the possessor cover.

also, i just did a virus scan with malware bytes, perfect there

i was proofreading this, and i read, " ok heres my problem, i play guild wars alot..." lmao

  • Guild Wars sucks anyway I wasted 52 of the 54 hours I spent in that game just trying to get answers on how to play and do anything in it. Frigging retards don't know how to program a game to actually explain any of it's game play basics which are needed to know in order to be able to play. I shouldn't have to and I'm not going to read a manual just to see how to find things on the minimap. That is something that is the devs responsibility. anyone who disagrees can kiss my ass right in the crack

  • Your computer is not completely suitable for the game, but it is most likely your router. Routers eventually die (transmit weaker signals) and you need to buy another one. I suggest Linksys routers, as mine is about 1 1/2 years old and is still doing good. Another thing is that if a power outage occurred, restart your router.

  • same

  • guild wars is an "internet intensive game" lol seriously its servers suck but its free and i dont lag too much but anyone iwll lag i use 2 different IPs one being 10MBps and 20MBps and theres no difference in gaming ping (dont ask why i have 2 IPs ones just dirty others not)

  • Sometimes I Think Other People Are Connected To Your Wireless Router And It Makes It Slow.

  • I also forgot to say that 54 mbs isn't the actual internet connection speed: It's the max speed wireless connection (WLAN) can do, while wired (LAN) can do 100/1000 mbs of data transfer beetween two computers in local area network (LAN).

  • Solutions: CCleaner and Auslogics Disk Defrag. Don't use wireless for gaming; use LAN cables. Open the laptop (Loosen screws etc), the cooler is most likely full of dust (Mine was, it got very hot and the cooler barely even spinned), consider buying a new computer or add some RAM there (2x 1GB RAM @800 MHz Kingston) could be good for you. ;) Try the above things first, at least the first three.

  • wow thts fuked up man. thanx for da edvice on the camcorder shit too.

  • have the same problem also

  • i got same problem :p
