Won "Best Storyline" in HarryDoesntKnow's video contest!
PLEASE READ!!! Set during an AU fifth year. Harry, Ron and Hermione are happily reunited once again, and things couldn't be better.
Until one day, Hermione is approached by a woman calling herself Umbridge, asking her to write an editorial for a local newspaper on Harry Potter -- what Harry wants everyone to think about the Dark Lord, what really happened before the summer holidays, and how things are going to change. Hermione happily writes the article, hoping it will persuade more people to join Harry. Unbeknownst to Hermione, Umbridge is evil -- and she is secretly working for the Daily Prophet.
When Umbridge shows up at Hogwarts, Harry tells Hermione that Umbridge works for Fudge, and Hermione ponders that she may have been tricked. Her suspicions are correct; The newspaper has twisted Hermione's written words into nasty criticisms of Harry and his "batty" ideas. Harry, seeing the cited author name on the page, is convinced that Hermione has been working with the Daily Propeht to turn the wizarding world against him, and is furious. Hermione tries to explain to her friend how she was framed, and how her writing was botched to favor the other side, but in his rage at the article he doesn't believe her. Ron also is skeptic of Hermione's alibi, and is angry with her for even considering doing the article in the first place, and unfairly accusing her of not being more savvy.
During a day in class with Umbridge, Harry yells at Umbridge for conspiring against him in the Daily Prophet. Umbridge claims that she had nothing to do with it, and points out cruelly that it was Hermione who wrote the article. Harry is only angered more.
Harry also begins to have furious outbursts with a helpless and innocent Ron, and is convinced that he no longer has any friends.
As Umbridge's grip tightens over Hogwarts and its students, Harry can only blame Hermione for its viscious headstart.
When Umbridge finds out about the DA, however, Hermione is determined to not only dispose of Umbridge, but prove her loyalty to Harry. Following the events of the book, Hermione leads Umbridge to the centaurs. Harry finally realizes his mistake, and their friendship is renewed.
