The wire is easier to turn if itis longer for leverage, than cut close to finish. He then kinks and twists the wire to break it.
Nice video from an old pro.

he cuts it in the right place before, then he turns the wire, so the point don't stay straight, but turned too, which is better. but turning with bare hands is real hard.

I agree with Jared, and you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Please look up and get your facts right before passing on misinformation. Even a quick wikipedia moment would have given you the correct information.

Berimbau is made of: A peculiar kind of wood, wich is called "madeira de lei", a STRONG string, a special stick, an artesanal bell made of roots with some kind of stuff inside (Caxixi is the name)to make a peculiar noise, and a special stone called "moeda".
You have to learn to use each one of them if you want to make a NICE song.
Do you think Max is playing berimbau? No, he's terrible. No, you don't have idea of what this istrument can do.

Wow! He turns the wire using only his bare hands. Ufa! I'm still using two pairs of pliers and at least another 5 minutes on top of that...
Berimbau are generally made of beriba wood- it's not strange at all, though it's getting rarer. The "string" used is made of tire WIRE - though it used to be made of gut. The caxixi is made of a gourd bottom and reeds- not roots- and is filled with the seeds of the calabash gourd- not stuff - and it's noise is not peculiar. And the stone or coin is called a dobrao.
