THE IVORIES - PLEASE STAY (WAND)

Yes it's the legendary WAND copy, why this is so incredibly rare is anyone's guess, the local Chicago DESPENZA issue is a big ticket number, but this. Rare Chicago femme group northern soul of the highest order.

Another Wand release brought in from another local label also seems nearly impossible to locate, but it is known to exist, unlike the Garrison stuff. The Ivories "Please stay" came out on a tiny Chicago label called Despenza and is hard enough to find on that label, let alone on Wand. Seems strange that Wand would only try for that one release from that local label, however, since there were other local Chicago groups who recorded for Dispo and Despenza who might have benefited from a Wand distribution deal.

If this is a Wand issue being played, its different to the Despenza version in quite a lot of areas. The only guy I knew to get this was Mick Smith..... or was that Honey & The Bees..? another Wand anomaly!

Mick Smith does have a copy so with my copy there's two, but I'm told there are a few others but unconfirmed ownership. Not sure there's any difference, I should have played both version back to back before selling my Despenza copy.

@owzyafava , Julian Bentley has it on Despenza, I asked him to play it at a venue yesterday & asked which label he had it on, got to say he then played about £40K worth of records over the next half hour!!!

Just looked it up in a northern soul price guide ....on Despenza est £800 which is pretty good if you have a copy, but on WAND expect to have to pay £2000!
