Raven - a Buffalo New York blues/jazz band signed to Columbia Records in 1969 after being discovered by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix and Beatle George Harrison. This song was taken from their "Live at the Inferno" album that was recorded live in 1968 at the Glen Park Inferno Casino in Williamsville New York, a suburb of Buffalo.
Raven toured many of the top underground music clubs in the late '60s and opened the show for many groups such as Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Johnny Winter and many others. The group was the house band at Steve Paul's Scene in NYC in 1968-69. Raven toured England in 1969.
The band consisted of Tony Galla (lead vocals, harmonica, flute), Jimmy Calire (piano/organ/vocals), John Weitz (lead guitar), Tommy Calandra (bass guitar) and Gary Mallaber (drums).
The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired on this recording. However, one can feel the energy and intensitity Raven projected in their live performances.
Raven was also known as "Tony Galla and the Rising Sons" prior to their name change in 1968.
