I have seen the movie at least three times during my childhood. there are other old movies of Shri S.S. Vasan e.g.Nishan ,Mangla.However, Chanderlekha ,which i have seen in HINDI is one of my all times favourites.- Bharat Bir Jaggi

Producer cum director S.S>Vasan had his own Geminit studios,and not AVM as some reader pointed out. One more beauty of this gigantic film is all the actors and actresses were PURE Tamils. T.R.Rajakumari. M.K.Rdha, Ranjan,Sundari bai,N.S>Krishnan, T.A.Madhuram-all were Tamilians.-a very rere sight in to day;s Tamil films-where the hero will be a telugu man and the heroine,a north Indian woman.Those days are gone.

I have read somthing about this Chandralekha's movie choreograph..setting..screenplay for this scene which has been a history and remarkable in the whole Indian film industry.
and I have seen it today, it could have been during my grandma's time.
thanks, is that T Rajakumari (she is on of my favourite legend actress-she has powerful eyes and a versatile actress), if she were present in this time, she would been my dream girl..Aiswarya.. no where to compare with her.

This film took a long time to make started much before India's independence (1943 or so) and released after India's independence. It had even a worldwide release (yes, worldwide) under the title 'Chandra'.
Reg T R Rajakumari, she did not have any hang-ups about being heroine. In Manohara, she was quite willing to act in a -ve role.

Thanks for posting this video. It is just awesome. AVM 's SS Vasan is the producer , I think. Just look at the scale of the set , dance and choreography, truly amazing. Also great music by Saluri Rajeswara Rao.Could you please set the title in English too...it would help others to search easily. Thanks again...
