Stop Site 41

This video depicts the actions of the Simcoe County Council and the Ontario Government who are constructing a mega dump site on top of the purest water in the world. It also shows the courageous efforts of Vicki Monague and the Anishinaabekweag, a group of aboriginal women who have been peacefully protesting site 41 since May 2009. The group is allied with area farmers and residents and together they have recently sat down in front of the gates to the dump site, thereby halting further construction.

Despite the data supporting the reality that the creation of a dump over top the Alliston Aquifer will result in a major travesty and pollute the water sources of Simcoe County and central Ontario, the government of Ontario and the Simcoe County Council are pushing forward on the project. The OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) have been called in to arrest the protesters.

On Thursday July 16, 2009 they received a written warning that they will be arrested and charged.

I just saw the news on tv where a big fat O.P.P. officer walks up to the protestors and orders them to leave or they could be arrested. With the protestors is little children looking scared of the police.Shame on the O.P.P.

This situation could become violent so its about time we bring in the protest group called the Raging Grannies to add a little muscle to the front lines. Nobody messes with the Raging Grannies so the O.P.P.should go away and leave the activists alone or face gramma.
