  • I Have To Admit This Is An Upright Piano Type Song. Playing Ragtime On A Grand Is Somewhat Challangeing. I Would Love To See An Old upright On Stage With Microphones All Around Amplifying The Whole Room. :)

  • @skyman2002 There is an upright on this stage. But given the choice, the performers choose this Steinway grand for their solo performances. I do have videos with the upright in action in duets or ensembles.

  • I actually enjoy this tune played a bit slower. I don't think it needs to be rushed. But that's just mho. Top Liner, and ragtime nightengale are also nice.

  • This is not "rushed" by any stretch of the ragtime imagination. Certainly, the tune can work a little slower, but this is by no means fast.

  • I know from playing rags that they're challenging. I remember how I'd learn to play them up to speed, but then I could not play them any other way. When I tried to slow them down, I would realize that I did not know the tune very well. It was after I really got to know the song that I could play it at any tempo. And again, it is just my humble opinion that this song is bit more inviting played at a slower tempo. It is a misconception to think that all rags need to played at fast tempos.

  • I agree, but it's also a misconception to think that this tempo is fast. This is positively moderate.

  • It's a nice performance, but Max Morath and I play it much more slowly,

with a lot of rubato. I think that this is the best of all rags, with Ethiopa

    being second

    Good job
