timing chain rattle from the hydraulic tensioners leaking down when the engine is off . They (B6/B7 S4) all do it to some extent, as long as it goes away within a second, just ignore it in my opinion......

is it just the oil draining from the top of the engine whilst standing?

The car runs perfectly after this noise. The car had plugs/coil packs/oil changes done recently @ 33,500 miles. CP's were done with the recall. Did the plugs just because, and the noise did not dissipate.
