IMO Tosin is already much better than most of the shred influences he stated. Not only is his shred ALWAYS based on interesting ideas and concepts (not "how can I play even more notes in a second?"), he also writes extremely interesting and evolving songs with many different layers, that would even work without any lead work.
For example Malmsteen never exactly wrote songs, his tracks would be boring as shit without the lead.
