Conceived by Karen Kaeja (Kaeja d'Dance), and co-directed with Diana Groenendijk, BIRDS EYE VIEW takes over the Casa Loma Stables for Nuit Blanche. In a two-part dance movement installation, audience members witness performances by more than twenty-five of Torontos finest dancers who illuminate the stables carriage room and stalls all night long. Every half hour, 6 solo dancers in elaborate costumes simultaneously transform the stalls into a riveting work of spontaneous living art. A meditative moving installation in the carriage room also incorporates audience participation through easy entry and exit. BIRDS EYE VIEW invites the participants to be the instruments in the creation of contemporary art, inspiring a sense of connection, integration and creativity. People who prefer to watch will find it calming, arresting and beautiful. An original score is composed for BIRDS EYE VIEW by Edgardo Moreno, a new photo exhibit by Walter Lai, and a video installation in the windows of the stables by The Residents.

Karen Kaeja is included in the Canadian Who's Who encyclopedia, and has won the Moving Pictures Award for Best Performance and the 2005 Paul D. Fleck Fellowship as one of Canadas innovative artists of excellence. She has been nominated for the 10th annual American Choreography Awards and teaches at Universities throughout North America. She has curated and performed in many Improvisational and performance concerts. Currently she is feature in sixteen dance films which garner international awards, a Gemini nomination, and a 2006 Banff World Television Award nomination.
