Variété de crises généralisées, caractérisée par une brusque perte du contact avec tonus conservé, fixité du regard et parfois des automatismes (gestuels, masticatoires, myoclonies des paupières) et toujours une amnésie post-critique.

  • yes it is,

Absence siezure can be reproduced during examination by blowing or hyperpnea.. which helps identify the seizure..

the kid stop his current activity (which is blowing) and starts blinking or chewing ..etc (automatisms) with a vacant gaze.. so you can tell very easily that he is seizing

other types of epileptic seizures may be reproduced by flashlight stimulation (intermittent photic stimulation).. etc

  • why he has to blow ??? is it connected with hyperventilation to create a seizure ?

  • I had this type of seizure as a child and I can clearly remember my doctor holding an evelope in front of me and asking me to count and blow on the envelope this would always send me into a seizure. I had Petit Mal from the age of 4 until 8 or 9.
