Here's some old lifecast footage with a somewhat difficult pose. As the alginate began to set we had the model assume a screaming pose. Included are some useful tips. Enjoy.
See our lifecasting 101 DVD for more lifecasting methods.

just wandering i'm new to all of this but very interested. how would i get into doing this sort of thing. are there places that offer courses or training for this?
BowersPublishing 3 weeks ago
@BowersPublishing Yes, there are shops that offer courses in specific techniques like lifecasting or moldmaking. Best way to learn is by jumping in and doing it. You can learn more with $500 and some good old fashioned creativity than any other approach. Don't be afraid to experiment!

Nice video and great supplier! Been doing alginate molds for a bit now, all one piece, which begs the question - how the heck do you make the two piece plaster bandage shell? I see the back is overlapping the front... did you apply some sort of release agent (Vaseline?) on the seam line of the front to prevent an easy removal of the back without plaster sticking to plaster? And if so, did you wait until the front shell hardened first before applying the back? Thanks, and great videos! Very info

@mrbanana101 Yes, we used vaseline, but I really recommend getting our Lifecasting 101 DVD. There are a lot of little details that are crucial to creating a good, fast plaster bandage shell.

Since, it's non toxic, it should be ok to have the alginate on the tongue and teeth, inside the mouth?

@RedThaMC Yes.
