@bigmickno9 I never believed the stuff about losing his nip, especially as they kept giving Sidebottom chance after chance when he'd clearly lost pace. Three months prior to his final Test, Hoggie totally outbowled Sid at Galle. Seeing how a real mid 70 mph swinger like Kumar worried England, I'm sure Hoggard could have done likewise for a series or two more.

@bolivianex It's because he'd lost his 'nip'. As proven in the last 12 months, Vaughan and Moores' decision to bring in Anderson and Broad at that point was totally valid - the long-term picture has seen us rise to no.1 in the world.

Hoggard was so under-rated opening the bowling with Harmisson they were a great combination, i never fully understand why England dropped him after 2 bad games its like dropping Pieterson after 2 bad innings which would never happen, why do our bowlers get such a raw deal.

One of the best bowlers of recent times IMO, from memory he struggled with injury.

@gujjarbudmash He was dropped a couple of years ago when England were playing New Zealand (Along with Steve Harmison) IIRC he was struggling for form after an injury

@mycockisitchy
It was top class bowling from Hoggy rather than poor batting. Sarwan and Chanderpaul are world class batsman.
