Quick tutorial about how to export your builds between SL and 3dS Max.
Here we will use Phoenix to backup our builds from SL and import them to OpenSIM. Then we will use Maxproxy to save our builds from OpenSIM to our PC in a HPA file. HPA files can be imported into 3DS Max and then export again to OpenSIM using Maxport to be saved again using Phoenix, making it possible to re-import to SL grid.

I dont uploaded the tutorial to my other SL tutorial channel because this is just one very quick tutorial without too much editing work. I'll redo at some point and upload with better quality and more details.

Here are the urls of PrimComposer and the batchs files used in the video. Remember to fill the maxport one with your own info in the fields "NAME, LASTNAME and PASSWORD".

  • I noticed you have a BVH Exporter at the top tool bar where did you locate such a thing? I have been looking for a max bvh exporter for like ever.

  • @Tomos17451 Thats the Abu's BVH Exporter Script. I just made few changes to be able to export 2 differents avatars. the script isnt bad, but it works using some "boxs" as reference wich I attached to a bip lol. There is a way to use bips directly wich is a way better, but I just use this to make rough animations with bip and refine on Poser. If you can't find Abu's BVH Exporter for SL let me know and I send to you mine.

  • @kitsune0video I seemed to find one that was modified by Pygora Acronym and Takuan Daikon but it doesn't seem to be popping up anywhere in max...It would be advantageous to get yours after seeing that it works in your interface.

  • @Tomos17451 Yeah, you need to put on the interface manually. Customizing the interface you can add scripts as buttons. I am really ZERO skilled at max scripts lol, but isnt so hard to make an installer for it though. Should I try someday so everyone could install easily. Could you please point me at those modfied version sending to me a pm if you dont mind? Mine are really old :/

  • @kitsune0video This is quoted from the forum

"Stoopid forums with their stoopid arbitrary spaces and broken bbcode and..... I wish LL would just fix this crap.

If you want to see my version of Abu's exporter which does export more than 100 frames, you can get it here: w w w dot daikonforge dot c o m/downloads"/sl-export.mcr"

  • @Tomos17451 Ahh, I though had something more modified xP

I modified mine to do that too. Thanks anyway. I must give a look someday to make it a bit better and more biped friendly ;)

  • @kitsune0video Do you think I can get yours because I ran the script I have and nothing seemed to change I looked under utilities>>More on the right and there wasn't anything new I checked under maxscript after running it and there isn't any new options. I also looked under Customize User Interface and there wasn't any new panel to drag on.

  • @slayerwen Yes, please, dont use maxport in the main grid. The creator dont made it 100% complaint with the TOS of SL. But using it in OpenSIM is safe. So yes, isnt perfect and oftel fails from grid to grid. I anyway, I better like to upload all of them manually so I know really how much textures Im uploading. Anyway, if after the last export from OpenSIM you get teh textures in the folder, they should be imported perfectly with Phoenix. But I know, sometimes happen (too often really).

  • @kitsune0video Ok. I'm in the last part. So i allways have to upload them manually? if i not use maxport .hpa for import to sl main grid?

  • @slayerwen Well, you need to see in wich part are you really missing the textures. The most important part is that 3d max export them, if they are exported, then there are no problem in uploading all manually. You need check your imported directoy in your inventory to see if the textures are really there. Sometimes, since you are using the same viewer for 2 different grids, you need clear your cache to see the changes between them.

If you still having this issue, try uploading manually.
