Filmed on location in the little know country of Motorcyclestan, a group of riding buddies from Terra Sol III tackle The Hill. The contenders include: BMW S1000RR, GSXR1000, BKing, Hayabusa, ZX9R, ZX10R, Z1000, VFR800 and it's filmed from onboard a Suzuki GS500 - the least powerful of the bikes and the one with the oldest technology. A technology which has remained pretty well the same since 1989 when the GS500 was first introduced. This, then, is that outing. A group ride over The Hill, a solo run over and back from the GS500, then another group ride back and to a fuel stop.

  • @friendlyfire01 I agree. But I need to put it out there that doing those things is not necessary. That the bike can, and does, run well in stock form. Because otherwise some people might think they Need to make all these changes and they are put off by it and wouldn't bother with the bike. By understanding they don't Need to make the changes and that the changes are Optional, the bike appears less daunting to a new buyer.

  • @michaelrossonline yeah i dont mean to say that the bike is crap, i bought one lol. i just meant to say, if you want the most out of it, there are some things that need to be done to get it running top spec. most people like it running as efficiently as possible, is all ;)

  • @friendlyfire01 Well, I've almost got 50,000 clicks on my GS. I put all of them on there & the bike runs fine. Has never missed a beat. I don't expect it to be anything other than what it is. I can sit in 6th doing 75 & leave it in 6th & get it to 90 without raising a sweat. I'm sure it could run better if I start rejetting & swapping exhaust & whatnot. But doing that is not required. The bike performs adequately (does what I want it to do) in its stock form. Want more power? Get a bigger bike.

  • @michaelrossonline a 500cc engine making 35-40 hp isnt cutting it. the engine runs great, the carb, airbox, and exhaust are all poor. change one, you gotta change the jets. change everything, the engine FINALLY runs as it was meant to.

  • @friendlyfire01 Thanks for tossing that in there. I answered on the video in question as that was more the review video on not this one. The GS500 will run fine in stock formation with the stock airbox, filter and jets. So do not think you (generic you) Need to change these out and rejet to get the bike to work properly.

  • @RB5566 i can tell you some things. if its been sitting more than a year, dont buy it without knowing it needs to be rejetted. the left carb has a problem with clogging if it sits on the stand too long. other then that, the bikes are bullet-proof! i have a 2005 gs500, it runs great after changing the stock airbox to a k&n lunchbox and upping the jets 1 size.

  • Hey dude I just watched your video (the 28 minute one) on the bike and I've always wanted one. Right now I've got a KLR650 and a DL/V-Strom-1000 and hope to trade in the 1000 for this bike, but a faired version, 2007 to be exact.

Is there anything you can tell me about what to look for when I trade, as in, potential problems with the bike?

  • Got my adrenaline going! Thumbs up if it did for u too

  • +1 GS500 keeps up easily with the big boyz in the hands of a skilled pilot! woot!

  • @kschanna @TKTex1 @SamuraiGambit Thanks for enjoying watching it - it was enjoyable to film too :)
