I just bought this exact same gun. You can tell its a quality piece compared to other Taurus;s I've seen. Its DA trigger pull is sweet, it stages at the end of the pull just when the cylinder locks up, its like shooting single action. Does yours have a lock?

I would carry this as a backup weapon if I was a police officer, but I would prefer at least a 3 inch barrel in .357 as the main duty weapon. But you can't go wrong with the model 85, it's my new old winter carry gun now. ( owned since 2008, just now decided to use it as a carry gun since it is a bit bulky. ) I love it, out of my 20+ weapons it's the #1 I would trust my life to if I needed one single reliable shot. Accuracy is great for a stub nose at 7 yards, but blah past 10.

woahh! you should cowboy that cylinder like that, you can damage the locking sear in the frame and ruin the timing on the cylinder. not being a troll, but otherwise a good reveiw.

ouch...Please don't snap the chamber shut,,,,,maybe in a highstress combat situation but not informally...you might bend the crane,

It looks like a minature smith and wesson m19/66 snub.
A force-wide change from the 5-shot Smith & Wesson Model 36 (with 3 inch barrel) to the 5-shot .38 Taurus Model 85 was undertaken in August 2002, featuring a laser sight and a new snatch-resistant holster.
