100 people came together at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne to sing Queen's I want to break free. The flash mob took place on the day on which Aung San Suu Kyi had spent a total of 15 years under house arrest in Burma.

The flash mob was in support of Amnesty International's campaign for the three freedoms of expression, association and assembly for all. Amnesty is calling on the Burmese authorities to respect these freedoms in the upcoming election, to release all political prisoners and stop repressing ethnic minorities.

Thank you to: the Keynotes Choir, Brimbank Multicultural Choir, the Victorian Trade Union Choir, Living Out Loud and individuals from the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir.

Thanks also to Sophia Exiner of Fia for the musical arrangement.

  • sorry but i think sound is off sinc on the video, but well done

  • @zuulatto yes it is of sinc! we're trying to fix the glitch at the moment..... i'll let you know once it's fixed.

  • Thanks Veronica. It was lovely to have your choir part of it! If you subscribe to our channel when the new video goes up that has the audio & visual in synch you'll get it :D Cheers, Hannah

  • There has been a problem with the video upload. When you watch it the audio and video are out of synch as the video has slowed down. This means that it'll appear as if we're not doing things and singing at the same time. We're trying to resolve this issue as fast as possible and will reload the video or hopefully fix it from the back end.

If you have knowledge on how to fix this from the backend (as it plays fine on VLC player) please get in touch.

  • It's great that people are passionate about this issue, but would it not have made more sense to sing a Burmese freedom song? There are many such songs around, and would have been far more appropriate and thought provoking in this situtation...

  • And I was thinking of going back to live in Melbourne. Still, nice one Melbourne.

  • 0.17...That's right....Please...please....Noooooooooooooooooo...just give em some money so they'll shut-up...(lol). Let me guess....RMIT Fine Art students (lol)...IT HAS TO BE!`
