My beloved husband of 32 years passed away on October 2nd from pancreatic cancer. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and always requested that the Navy Hymn be sung at his funeral which I had done. It was so unreal that in the early morning hours before I had him transported to the hospital where he died that evening, this song came on our radio being sung by a male soloist. Absolutely amazing. Truly God's Hand at work. No mere coincidence.

And I am sure my husband would agree you if he was still here. He was very patriotic....miss him tremendously and now I was diagnosed last August with ovarian cancer. Pretty ironic, but I am very much at peace with it.

I'm sorry, but, please accept the pure sincerity of my comment.. I served in the Navy, and, I worked on a fishing boat, Newfoundland.. And, as I've said earlier, all men who've been on the waters are brothers..

I lost my WW II Navy dad in '08. He never talked about the invasions ( he talked to me about his experiences in the last year of his life) . He had been through all the Pacific Islands, D-Day, and back to the

Pacific --- all before he was 20 yr. Old. God Bless America!!!!

Great version.

Love the fact that the Brown Shoe Navy has a chorus. I have a place in my heart for Navy & Marine pilots;IMHO are the best pilots in the air. They get thrown off a ship & they land aircraft worth >$500M  hoping that a hook on the back of their aircraft will bring them back safely.
