College student arrested for a doughnut? Really? Ana and John discuss the story of Northwest College student Zach O'Dell who was fined over 200 dollars when his absent minded munchies caused him to walk out on a $.79 doughnut bill.

Do you think he did it on purpose? Or was the store cracking down on him totally without cause? Do you snack as you shop?

  • Ana and John = a major hit. TYTU is rad.

  • @theking0fnowhere +1 :) - John

  • when they were saying O'Dell, I was picturing Rodelle from the horse rape videos.

  • @ILockItDown I imagine those sorts of activities would cause you to work up quite an appetite. :) - John

  • They will pay dearly for this "exaggeration". A broken window is the least that they have to expect. How dumb can some people be...

  • @kleenex3000 I hadn't thought about that. Realistically you're probably right. - John

  • I mean they have to set an example...

but if the kid bought other stuff then yeah I think the manager should've just reminded him that he also ate a doughnut. I'm just wondering if they called the cops first or if the kid refused to pay...

  • You can't blame the cops since they are doing their jobs but the owner is an asshole!

  • I'm 100% with John on this, cinnamon pop-tarts are the best pop-tart ever!

  • @jojoseph1730 tell it to the fraudulent bankers. We could buy him the donut, payoff the judge, and the cops with that much money.

  • Live in Europe, go shopping everyday. Shit is so cash.

  • stealing is stealing, enough said

  • He deserved it. I'm sicked and tired of hearing stories like this. Don't eat it if you haven't paid for it. It's that simple.

  • Except... Stealing a donut IS misdemeanor shoplifting. If you haven't paid for it, don't eat it. That's how it works. The $200 fine isn't paying for the donut, it pays for the law enforcement call. It does sound a bit like the owner had it out for him. Maybe it wasn't the first time. How is that different than pocketing anything else? Misdemeanor is exactly the right charge.

  • i think the reason the cops showed up is because 79 cents were lost but the state gov is gettin 210 easy bucks which will inevitably trickle down to the police force. cops do easy job, gov gets money, market owner gets his and students learns his lesson. it might be excessive but i mean stealing is stealing. rather than callin cops why not say hey you gonna pay for that donut?
