"That Russian is still wondering where that puck is" Sept. 4,1972 Canada vs. Russia Game 2 of 8 in Toronto @ 6:47 in the 3rd period Peter Mahovlich scores a beautiful shorthanded goal to increase the lead to 3-1. Canada goes on to win the game to tie the series 1-1.
So essentially, even including the fact that soviets recieved their gold medals on the basis that most North America hockey players were DQed as "professionals" and soviets were allowed to play as "amateurs" (even though they played in the soviet professional league YEAR -ROUND), Canada still has more hockey titles, and has beaten Russia at all key moments of even hockey. Would you Ruski's consider it an accomplishment if our NHL stars beat a bunch of college hockey players in Russia? HAHA.
Canada is undoubtedly the home of hockey, and since we were allowed to actually bring our *professionals* into the Olympics (bogus Soviets calling their pros "amateurs"), since 1992, Russia has sucked on all levels of hockey by comparison to Canada--Juniors, Olympics, World Hockey Champs, mens, womens, under 18. Soviets could only win when college kids were playing against them, you guys got your asses wooped in Summit Series and virtually every Canada Cup after when the playing rink was EVEN.
The Henderson Jersey Tour is going to have lots of memorabilia from the series - it's going on tour in January. Mitch Goldhar bought the jersey and is taking it on tour - search for "Henderson Jersey Tour" on facebook. There's a contest too.
