As a long time Tablet PC user I find it invaluable as a device which I can use to scrbble hand written notes and thoughts onto. I was able to get my hands on both a resistive screen computer (Fujitsu UH900) as well as a capasitive screen system (Lenovo S10-3T) And here's a little report on how both fared when used as a piece of paper to write to.

  • so, what tablet is best for writing on the screen with ur palm resting on it at the same time? i would very much appreciate it for your response! hmmm singlish eh? :P

  • @babyowl Well, anything that uses a digitizer will be the best. I can't remember any exact model names now.. I think.. Dell's Tablet, HP's one that has a Hybrid screen, and I think Lenovo also has one with a Hybrid screen. But if you're on Singapore you can get the Asus T101MT, look at my videos to see the palm rejection in action.

  • That UH900 is very responsive. I am quite impressed with it. Some of the early resistive touch screen models were very slow, but that may have been more to do with processing power.

Active digitser is the way to go for a couple of reasons. Proximity and pressure sensitivity ftw.

Your video is a good example of how rediculous drawing or wiriting is without a pen.

Thank you for showing the pogo stick. Not a very good solution unfortunately. iPad users will be stuck with that.

  • yup active FTW indeed, been using Tablets since the first ones so I'm experienced with that.

too bad active digitizer models seem to be rare and expensive.

Was surprised at how badly the capacitive stylus worked. Why is it called the pogo stick?

  • hahaha what a funny voice .U seems smart but sounds like a retarded drunk.

  • Wow, that must be the most unique comment I heard before, kudos to you!

  • @dsoundofmusic1215 I so feel you there... I love the Duuuuz diiiiiiis at 7:54.

  • @dsoundofmusic1215 Do not make fun of anyone's voice even if the guy is a retarded drunk.

  • @babyowl Be aware that with capacitive, you can wear a glove on your writing hand to prevent it from registering on screen. Capacitive stylus tip still needs to be pretty big, but there are styli with a flat transparent tip so you can be more precise now.

Still, nothing is as perfect as inductive (active) digitizer pen. It should even be possible to create an input surface which can be switched between inductive and capacitive sensing by reusing the same set of in-glass antennas. Hummm....

  • he sounds like Animal from police academy xD

  • thanks for making this video! very informative. had no idea there were different types of touchscreens. also, for those interested in lcd touchscreen technology, check out the new boogie board lcd tablet. next version with memory coming out in the fall 2011.

  • Borat? :)

  • when my finger caught static , my capacitive screen can even register touch as the static from my finger tip passers through thin air and make contact with the screen

  • thumbs up if u hate the voice of the singaporean guy talking in the vid !

  • LOL! thanks for the info

  • damn improve your pronunciation dude.. otherwise use subtitle!!!!
