Founded in 2008, Mambis Agroforestry Nursery Project in Papua New Guinea's Enga Province, is leading the way to a more environmentally sustainable future. Deforestation has caused many problems in the region including erosion, deadly landslides, loss of topsoil fertility, lack of fuel and timber wood, and more. The project's Director, Peter Sambak Tanda, has already planted thousands of young trees and is educating his neighbors about environmental stewardship.

@ruqqab I do not know if parsnips will grow well in tropical highland areas. It usually grows to a large size in temperate places like Germany and Canada.
Also, pigs are good for clearing brush and weeds. Sometimes this tendency works too well, so keeping them in pens part of the time is a good idea. Let them out only to clear away weeds and eat underground insect grubs.

A very good project! I understand that the pigs coud be a real problem. And the land seems to be a bit dry. A good way of fertilizing and keeping the moist in the ground is to lay a good 10-15 cm thick layer of multch(cutted grass, leaves and other soft plant stuff) under the planted trees.
