The late Master Jou introduced the Chen style to americans with his book -The Dao of Taijiquan: Way to Rejuvenation. Here
he is in 1981 in Harlem demonstrating with his students. He was a very nice man and an excellent teacher. He could really use the Tai Chi to fight with and had an great understanding of the art. That he is no longer with us is a great loss. R.I.P.

  • I have Dao of Taijiquan. It's a very well-written and well-researched book. I highly recommend it.

I got a chance to train at the Taiji Farm in 1999. It was not too long after Mister Jou passed. I'm really disappointed that I missed out on training with him. I've heard nothing but great things.

My Chen style is Mister Jou's lineage. Everyone says his Chen looks different from tradtional Chen family taiji, but he obviously had power and knew how to use it. So that seems pretty cool.

  • Fond memories of the master. This was a time when there were few masters around and even fewer willing to share their knowledge. Master Jou was always willing to share. His is missed.

  • I put a link in the description. Read more about Master Jou on the Tai Chi Farm site.

He was not involved with Chen style only. He started with Yang. Very interesting is he dont prefer one style. He emphases starting with Chen, go on with Yang and than the finest subtle style old Wu(Hao). In his book is one big failure. As he wrote Sun Lutang dont learn the new Wu Stile of Wu Quanyu. He learn from Hao Weizhen the old Wu style from Wu Yuxian. I am confused about this big mistake becaus the link between Sun an old Wu/Hao style is easy to see.

  • I believe he covered the 3 major styles in his book. He was also demostrating 1st section of yang style long form in his other utube video

  • He covered the 3 main branches of tai chi chuan in his book. In his utube demo video he is demonstrating 1st section of yang style long form

  • his books are awesome!

  • I HAVE HIS TAO SERIES

  • can you describe some of his fights - against whom and what style?
