Today's British marathon runners are a pile of shit - and this is because most of the youth of today are a pile of shit. Nobody has the motivation, the will or the guts to even take up the hobby of marathon running anymore let alone produce world beaters. Most people in the street would not even have any concept of the speed these guys run 26 miles at, let alone the training involved.

i trained with steve jones in the lead up to this marathon and he was on fire. peter jenkins should take credit also. Steve Jones is a hero to the people of Ebbw Vale and always will be

I saw Steve Jones race at the Fleet Half Marathon 1986 I think? I took a picture as he went by but it came out blurred! He was proper shifting along like a boss!
