I rode the line from Gromont to Whitby for the first time since the seventies a little while after this event and I was a bit unnerved by the apparently poor physical condition of the bridges between the two stations. I don't think anyone really imagined it would be a regular thing, but as a one-off (or two-off, actually) it was a great spectacle.
I personally think that the lack of sun could've been an omen. IMHO, it should never have gone to Whitby. The speed around that curve proves it. The loco is simply too big. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to see, but it was late on both occasions, thanks to the severe speed restrictions applied to it.
great vid.....great loco....and a great route......5*

Thanks for another great upload, excellent quality and well edited as always. Shame the sun didn't shine a little more for Nigel.
