To clear this mess up this is a spin off. Same goes for Universe. Ova series 1, 2, and Ryo Ohki are in timeline with each other, but the exceptions of spinoffs were GxP(friend of the family) and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari (tenchis stepbrother). No official news on any new series. To also add Tenchi ends up with everyone(as in everyone takes turns) Masaki(story/artist) says so. Cant really argue with the creator.

@xdjprincess92 Tenchi Muyo was the OVA series (Original Video Animation) which introduced all of the characters and how they met and intertwined etc. Then there was a second series which consisted of 26 episodes which re-told everything but with a bit more background detail than "This is a demon Ryoko who was slain by Yosho" and "This is Kagato... He has fun glasses" etc. This series is I suppose the second official series...
