Brute force, a quality we can't help but assign to any car generating 638 horsepower, is by definition anything but subtle. Yet the 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 manages at once to be both brutally quick and remarkably mild-mannered. Its quarter-mile acceleration is quicker than any production car we've ever tested, its chassis is benign but highly capable and its carbon-ceramic brakes are mind-bending in their effectiveness. This new Vette offers an unlikely combination of performance and real-world usability that we're proud to experience in an American car.
This combination is as rare as truth in a presidential debate. Honestly, most of the ZR1's competition (think Dodge Viper ACR) or Nissan GT-R)) is less capable and makes a much larger compromise in typical road driving. With the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 we have a machine that is engaging to drive, capable of making insane numbers on the test track and also a legitimate road car.
LMFAO at all these idiots who believe that Ranger and all these other people have 100% stock cars. No stock ZR1 or Z06 has EVER EVER done less than 11.2 1/4 mile in 100% stock form.

@16vGLHS Keeping it real is realizing you have the best car for the money and not caring about 1/4 mile ET by amateurs. It does 130 or so in the 1/4... physics says its fast as shit.

@16vGLHS ''RangerC6ZO6,'' Got 10 seconds with a zr1 stock with stock tires. I think it was a 10.73 at about 133 mph.

@luvscience44 the fastest I've ever physically seen a STOCK one go (on a legitimate track) is 11.6 (I don't live in 30 degree weather...it's 90+ degrees all year round where I live). I've seen a ton of ZR1 owners get upspet when they spend $130k and GM (and everyone on the web) tells them "It'll go high 10s low 11s all stock" and they take it to their local track and after 900 thousand attempts the best then can get is 11.6 they get pissed. It's a great car don't get me wrong, just being real.

@16vGLHS STOCK zr1 dyno's 532 , Hennessy. Motortrend got 11.2 @130 with the zr1 stock

ZR1 = almost identical times to the new 600hp Viper. However, Car and Driver (same track, same day, same driver) got 11.7 @ 127 for the ZR1 and 11.8 @ 128 for the Viper. (non ACR). Dyno for the stock Viper = 581whp (done by inside line) haven't yet seen the one for the ZR1 by insideline.

@rforracing point taken. but then again, it could also be the skill of the driver too. but then again, if thats what the tests brought back after testing it so many times, id believe the numbers

@BigM161 Motortrend actually recorded a time of 11.5 @ 126.9 mph for the ZR1 in the drag race with the 911 Turbo. The 0-60 mph time was 3.5 sec. These are the ACTUAL figures for the 2010 Corvette ZR1.
Dont believe me? Watch the drag race below and read their article.
