@englishcoffee agreed. Then people would actually enjoy watching presidential speeches.

For those saying that Colbert is promoting Paul, no, he's not. Remember the line, "If you guess Ron Paul's name, he has to show you how to spin straw into gold." Paul and the gold standard? Huh?

The PACs show us, as clearly as anything since the Gilded Age, the complete corruption of the political system. Good reason for a high tax rate on the wealthy: if we don't take their excess from them, rich individuals and their money will enclose the oxygen of our elections with constant ads. The 2010 elections were the first elections under this rule, and it meant wall-to-wall-slander without stop for about three weeks. Subsidies for the TV stations.

there should be more colbert's on planet earth.

@Blairtim69 They ARE funny, because politicians and corporations have been doing this forever through shell corporations and intermediaries like the Republican Governors' Association. And with all the money going to the superpacs there's less going to the actual campaigns to hire campaign managers and handlers to coach these candidates on how not to have all these gaffes. Citizens United is actually choking the campaigns rather than supplying them.

I don’t think he is making a mockery of the election.
The election rules, conduct of participants, and overall system are a complete joke. The Supreme Court made a mockery of the system; Colbert is just participating in what is already an absurdity.
Just one more clown added to the tens of thousands of clowns already involved.

People don’t realize how frightening this interview was.
When he was talking about the supper pacs and everyone was laughing, he was speaking the truth. The rules he stated are real, the rules are insane, and not funny.
The greatest troll this generation this decade.
