How can you measure the brix of supermarket produce?? The brix changes depending on the time of day it is harvested, yes? Should the measurement for carrots be on the leafy material? I thought the chart was made based on leaf brix? Love to hear your thoughts?
thanks

@4soil1 The brix chart is for the part of the food you eat. Carrot greens can be brixed since they are good as part of green drink. I do not know the scale for carrot greens. Generally above 12 brix is preferred for greens.

@paulqem123 The refractometer reading is a reflection of all dissolved minerals including carbohydrates, phyto nutrients, and dissolved minerals. A plant does not just produce sugars, it always adds minerals to the carbohydrates. Thus a high brix reading means more carbohydrates and more minerals. Very importantly it isthe trace minerals that are so substanially missing in low brix foods. Google what is brix for a fuller definition. ~Jon

Thanks for the comments. I goofed in my statement "Any housewife can do it." This was one of my first videos and was unscripted. What I so poorly conveyed was that it can be done in any kitchen without the need for a lab analysis. Thanks for understanding. ~Jon
