Don't worry. This sounds like a channel problem. You need to choose the strings in the virtuel instruments on a diffrent channel than the keyboard channel,, and make sure that both midi tracks are not using the same channel.
Set the strings output to channel 2 and keyboard to channel 1. This goes with most virtuel instruments like sampletank and so fort. It is much easier to use instrument tracks by the way.

Oh man I am totally lost now.
I have two midi tracks recorded. One is piano and the other one is strings. But when I play my recording back through pro tools they both come out as a piano sound. I cant get one track to play the piano sound and the other strings.
Anybody out there help out ?????

Hey Bro... this was a great video! But for some of us who are fairly new to the send, bus and aux world, the video was too short to really understand things like where to place the effects or plugins .... do we do that on the aux track or the original track? and what about if we have several tracks that need multiple effects.... do we need to create multiple aux tracks? I work with a lot of tracks in a session and need to save resources... please help me better understand. Thanks bro.
