Hundreds of bees were gathering pollen from this palm flower, when a neighbor 's gardener began trimming the tree (actually a plant). So after it was cut I hung the flowering limb from a ladder in my yard. This is the result. The bees are very docile, interested only in the pollen source. The light-colored 'globs' on their legs are the pollen they have just gathered; they'll transport their 'full load' back to the hive.

No 'bee suit' or smoke was used to film this. Even when the limb was cut and fell about 9 feet, they ignored the gardener, and me when he handed it over the wall. Had this been a swarm or hive.... different story, I think!

Bees are in big trouble with hive collapse and loss of habitat. They can use our help. BTW, if a bee happens to sting you, 'scrape' the stinger off of you, with something like a credit card; you'll stop most pain and swelling. DO NOT 'pinch' the stinger! Pinching acts just like a syringe, injecting even more poison.
