During Shabistan movie, Shyam accidently died. At that time my great-uncle was a movie director in Inida...my grandfather Mir Sahib (from NWFP) visited his brother and the director of Shabistaan movie had Mir Sahib finish the final scenes...True Story...
Hello Mirza Sahib and thank you. Shyam was the famous hero of the 1940's era who died after falling from a horse while shooting in film "Shabistan" 1949. Shyamkumar however was a singer, actor hero and actor villian. He was a wrestler by hobby and a businessman by profession. At one time owned a lot of buildings in Bombay.
It was Shyamkumar who playbacked the two duets in Dillagi. He also sang with Ameerbhai in film Rattan 1944 "O jane wale balamwa". Also sang many songs in other films.
Thank you for this wonderful video, and also for bringing it to my notice. I searched through youtube, and I don't know how I did not come across this song, which is why I uploaded the audio version.

Amazing voice, Surraiya's. So deep yet so sweet in timbre. Early Geeta Dutt (Roy) had a similar voice....
