Mashed potato is one of my all-time favourite side dishes. It's delicious on the plate next to just about anything. The aim of this video is to provide the basic method of making good mash. You can add any additional ingredients you like to achieve unique flavours, but the basic mash has to be right first. Give it a go!

  • 3 large potatoes - boiled in salted water

pass through sieve or mash well

    whip very well with:

    3 tlb butter

    1/3 cup cream

    1/4 cup olive oil

    salt to taste

= the creamiest richest mash ever!

  • yum and yum!!! I am with Brendan Stuart though...I use an electric whisk..just for a few minutes and they go silky smooth..love the idea of a drizzle of olive oil though!

  • try this one AG

    sweet potato, carrot & pumpkin

generous amount of EVOO, heavily salt, add tsp of mixed dry herbs

turn every 30 mins or so.

roast at 160C for 90-120 mins (we dont want it up high cos it will make a crust on the veg)

when soft add cream and butter

you wont need much its sooooo rich and magnificent

    perfect with some scotch fillet
