Blizzard 2010 Des Moines,IA.mp4

Weve seen quite a few storms in IOWA the winter of '09. 2010 is'nt looking much better. This is the first big storm January 2010. This is just a few of the highlights from the day after the storm on I-80. Cars & trucks were littered from one end of the state to the other.During the storm they actually had to shut down I-35 & I-80. Its a bit shaky but you can understand why, .....

I was on 80 headed east out Des Moines. This is 1 of about 8 really bad storms we had that turned 80 into a parking everytime.

if people would stop rubbernecking and pay attention to what they're doing - which is DRIVING SLOWLY and NOT DRIVING FAST ON SLIPPERY SNOWY ROADS - perhaps none of the accidents you see on this video would have happened.

this is pretty scary! driving in this kind of weather condition and seeing all these crashes. i have to drive on the exact same highway this upcoming sunday and the following monday for a job interview. God...

I don't drive for a living. But most of my life was spent in the Chicagoland and N.W. Indiana area. Iowa seems to not have a clue about keeping roads clean in the winter vs. Illinois and Indiana.

Sure a day or so *after* the snow has stopped the roads will be clear. But during any snowfall... Forget it.

But that's just my observation.

This was my 2nd winter here, I'm not from a state that has such weather like this, last winter I cried trying to drive in it this winter I didn't drive in it at all, I figured if I didn't know how to drive in it why kill someone trying... but Iowans told me last year I hadn't seen nothing yet... this year I saw "the nothing yet" they all were talking about... I remember all the cars in the ditches, my mom and i counted a total of 60 from Ames to Des Moines.
