Some of what this guy says is true as it is teased out, but it is tied up so much in Hillsong theology it becomes really confusing and awkward, similar to Brian Houston's books such as 'You Need More Money'

Wow. What's the Gospel message again?

All have sinned and greatly offended the holy God of the bible. The just punishment is death then hell. That's not Gods will. He suffered and died on the cross paying for the law you broke in His life's blood so He could legally dismiss your case. You must repent turn from your sin and trust alone in Jesus Christ for your salvation.

Wrong.
If this drivel about self love, and prosperity were biblically based..then they'd have clear concise answers...instead of the mush that actually came out...

Todd, God bless you! I am so thankful to God for you -

interesting.. was listenin to Mark Driscoll's last couple of podcasts... how the pharisees were JEALOUS of Jesus's popularity in Luke, claiming Jesus theology was wrong
too seeker/sinner friendly .... jealous of his crowds... hmm... de ja vu....
also Ps Mark talked/repented of his own criticizing of other ministries...
at the bottom of 99.9% all criticism is jealousy. We ALL fight with it everyday.. but no amount of dragging a "God thing" down will work... go ask Joseph's brothers... :-)

Also, I don't think there's an inherent problem with Christians 'loving' themselves at some level. While we are by any objective measure worthless (Romans 3:10-12), the fact that God loves us, died for us, and made us (and remakes us) in his image says to me it is wrong to view ourselves with disdain, either.
The correct view, IMO, is to see ourselves as fallen jars of clay, lovingly and powerfully redeemed by grace for good works, by a Father who values us purely and simply because we are His.

What I find so interesting about Hillsong, not just in London but back here in Australia, is that they do actually know their Bibles. For instance, as in the vid, if you have a discussion with a Hillsong go-er, and quiz them in depth, they'll often be able to spill to you the Biblical gospel. The problem is that they link the gospel to all these buzzwords like 'self-help', 'prosperity', 'fulfilling your potential' and so on, without realising there's little Biblical basis supporting that link

Todd Friel is a tragedy for Christianity. Just bombarding guys with questions doesn´t prove anything.

The theme of the confrence is self promotion. go out and spread the message of christ ? ..the message is...um ah gee can I get some help here ...oh yeah it's ..um.. eternal life, prosperity, hope ,self love ,salvation ,healing , a whole bundle of stuff . WHAT ??
Personally I think every christian needs to be able to clearly present the gospel in 3 minutes 1 minute and 12 seconds ..
Todd may be a guy who will put your feet to the fire but these guys are pastors of a church .. lets get real
"and asked basic questions about their beliefs... They couldn't answer simple questions without ..."
No offense to anyone but i have never liked it when Pentecostals preach or teach anything!
sad that prosperity and feel good preaching come first rather than the gospel truth!
instead of solid biblical truth they preach psychological nonsense from the pulpit "self love" just one example. the pentecostal church is all about feelings, experiences and music its what they want not what God wants

@AtheistKiwi -- So, if your fellow atheist exhibited wild beliefs that didn't even qualify as atheism any longer, and attempted to bring that statement world wide as a representation of all atheists, you would say nothing? Even inasmuch as you make atheism a part of your own identity here?
Or in any other way, in any other thing or theory you believe, if another comes along attempting to represent it, and misrepresents it, you remain silent?
