Now, I would like to present to you a very rare and beautiful cartoon short which I consider one of my best favorites, (and should be one of the greatest cartoons ever, despite it being underrated and sometimes ignored by the public.) though I only discovered it a few years ago. Everyone's favorite mop-haired doll, Raggedy Ann, stars in "The Enchanted Square," produced by Famous Studios and originally distributed by Paramount Pictures, Inc. in 1947.

In this truly inspiring, heartwarming, and sentimental story, an abandoned Raggedy Ann doll is taken by kind-hearted police officer Patrick Flanagan through Shaggy Square to a certain young blind girl named Billie. When Raggedy Ann comes to life in front of her, she helps Billie open her imagination for the very first time to reveal a colorful fantasy-transformed Shaggy Square.

I'm sorry to say that this is a NTA faded print of the film, but there is an advantage to this print: it is NEARLY complete, which means hardly any splices show up, with an exception or two. With regrets to the faded colors, I still present this masterpiece in a nearly completed print. I also do so because it is consided probably one of the greatest cartoons I've ever seen. I hope you enjoy it.

One more thing: I am trying to really get this on an official DVD with ABSOLUTELY NO splices present and the film restored, even if it has to be from various sources. If anyone can support me on what I just said, let me know in the comments box below.

  • It's on DVD now! :D

  • @Kyesight I'm already waiting to see how beautifully restored it is.

  • This is probably one of the few cartoons in the world that bring a tear to the eye with the message it carries.

"You know there are some that see with the eyes in their head, then there are some that see with the eyes in their heart. And that's the Lord's own truth."

That is something the world needs to hear.

  • @Shidyk Couldn't have said it better. The world needs Billie's kind of imagination, especially in these difficult times.

  • What gets me is that Officer Flannigan gives Millie a doll that has been in a trash can, without having it cleaned.

  • @InweTaralom That's Billie, just to correct you.

  • this is sooo much better than all the crap and junk kids watch on TV today in

2011 raggedy ann i love you sooo much

  • I remember this cartoon from a tape my grandparents had waaaay back when i was little. The only part I remembered was when Billie remarked that the dripping water sounded like music. And now several years later, it makes me shed a tear. Especially when I watch the cartoon and hold the Raggedy Ann doll that the same grandmother made me. Ah, memories...

  • This is an amazing cartoon. Somebody once posted this with its original titles, but it got deleted.

  • despite being a 90's kid, i guess i could relate to the childhoods of 50's-60's something like that kids...for i watched a lot of old school tapes as a kid

  • Man this is beautiful!

  • The Noveltoons set is coming out from Thunderbean Animation, and will likely to have a splice-free (or splice-fixed) copy of this short. It's not from Paramount Home Entertainment/Republic/Lionsgate, but it's exactly what you want. Steve Stanchfield did a really good job.

  • @superfunforeveryone its easy to be in billies world, just a few drops of acid and you can spend hours there!

  • This makes me cry. :' (
