Recorded in October 1929, years before Bailey became the No. 1 female singer of the Swing Era, and even before she gave Bing Crosby his big break. She almost jumps through the speakers on that last "what kind of man is you" (2:40).

  • I have loved this record from the first time I heard it. Thanks for putting it here. It's great to hear it again. Bailey was probably the best all-around female vocal interpreter during the 30's and 40's, but it would have been interesting had Irene Taylor gone on. She was the only other one who completely integrated pop and jazz into her interpretation naturally.

  • Love Mildred! Thanks for sharing.
