Today I've stopped by our beautiful new Harps Grocery Store. Conway families shop here for their groceries and household supplies—things they need everyday. Our new Harps has employed 92 new employees. Those are welcome new jobs in our community.
One of the things I am most proud of from the last legislative session is the tax cut we passed on groceries. That's 30 million dollars that Arkansas families can use to pay for school supplies, gasoline and monthly bills. That is over $1.1 million for hardworking families in Faulkner County.
Every single member of the House of Representatives worked together to pass this bill because cutting taxes is not a Democratic issue or a Republican issue, it's an important issue for Arkansans.
I've heard from people today, as I do almost every day, that we have to find more ways to help relieve the tax burden on Arkansas families. As your Representative, I'll continue to fight to phase out the remaining tax on groceries, working with Governor Mike Beebe and other legislative leaders to ensure that we keep our budget balanced.
However, we can't afford to end up like most other states right now, slashing their budgets and services to plug huge deficits. So tax cuts must be made responsibly and targeted to help the most people possible—like the grocery tax.
I've enjoyed creating these video messages as part of a conversation with you. I hope that you'll respond on Facebook and Twitter, at my website, electlindatyler.com, or just here at Harps. Listening and learning from you are the most important parts of my job as YOUR Representative.

Don Harp was a wonderful man who recently passed. He started the Harps food chain of local stores for all of us to shop at. We are very lucky to have good clean and safe stores to shop at. Some bigger city neighborhoods have no grocery stores to shop at.
