This dance is praising Mother Goddess Kathyayini. She is seated on a Lion and is prepared to Slay the demon Mahishasura and bless the whole world as her children. She has a beautiful Gems studded crown and has a balance of the sun & moon. The rare "Karanas" which are the syllables of dance are seen in this number. At the end of the dance the dancer draws a picture of Lion on a coloured canvas to a 128 beat of 1 Cycle of TALA or Period. This is an old form of Temple Dance.
