The Royal Duchy was to be run differently this year than previous years, this year the tour would be taken to Penzance by diesel and hauled on the return by steam as far as Bristol when a diesel will take over for the rest of the journey.
Once again two locomotives were called up to haul the tour and they were 'Black 5' 45305 and BR Britannia 70013 'Oliver Cromwell', the two engines also worked together the previous week hauling the 'Great Britain IV' to Penzance.
In this video we start at Langstone Rock at Dawlish Warren, running around 5 minutes early the pair passes the famous sea wall heading for their water stop at Exeter St Davids, next we seen them tackling Whiteball bank in fine style on the final leg to Bristol Temple Meads.
Enjoy!
Great stuff - really enjoyed seeing that double header.
