Misinformation alert - a STOP error (also known as Blue Screen of Death - BSOD) in Windows does *not* mean that "your data is gone" or that "it's already too late".
It just means that Windows encountered an error it could not automatically handle. It usually does NOT mean your data has been corrupted in any way.
Having said that, having an online backup (like the one CrashPlan offers) is An Extremely Good Idea.
