O Verbum Patris performed by Vox Reflexa

O Verbum Patris from The Hildegard Motets by Frank Ferko. The vocal ensemble Vox Reflexa, meaning "Echo", strives to present at the highest level, contemporary polyphony rooted in western medieval tradition. The members of Vox Reflexa are young professionals and alumni of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University who hold advanced degrees from the finest institutions from the USA, South America, Europe, and Asia. The ensemble was founded in 2009 by Benjamin L. Geier and is based in Bloomington, Indiana, USA.

O Verbum Patris,
tu lumen prime aurore
in circulo rote es,
omnia in divina vi operans.
O tu prescientia Dei,
omnia opera tua previdisti,
sicut voluisti,
ita quod in medio potencie tue latuit
quod omnia prescivisti,
et operatus es
quasi in similitudine rote
cuncta circueuntis,
que inicium non accepit
nec in fine prostrata est.

O Word of the Father,
you are the light of the primal dawn
in the rim of a wheel,
enacting all in divine might.
O foreknowledge of God,
you foresaw all your works
as you wished,
so it lay hidden in the midst of your power
that you foreknew all,
and you acted
as if in the likeness of a wheel
encompassing all,
which has no beginning
and was overturned in no end.
