After reading comments from some of the Youtubers who have viewed my recent double download of Donizetti's "Perche non ho" from the rarely heard Rosmonda, I decided to put up another version of this aria: this time by the famous Renee Fleming. Hope you enjoy! Your comments are most welcome!

  • Exquisite... this is another one from the countless proofs that Fleming was born to sing Bel canto... the line is as usual simply perfect and the high notes fascinating!!! A Voice of the Highest level...

  • What a relief to hear someone say they can have a favourite singer, but can still be objective enough to appreciate a different version(interpretation). I was getting a little tired of the fanatics and their "absolute" evaluations of the "good, the bad, and the ugly". Thank you for your balanced viewpoint.

  • estas musicas sao verdadeiros remedios para a alma eo espirito!!!

  • @Turand0t Could you be a bit more specific? Which things exactly does she do that aren't "Italian"? Fleming's technique is examplary which makes her very skilled in bel canto IMO.

  • @Lohengrin33 She suits some bel canto, but not the bigger stuff like Lucrezia Borgia, Anna Bolena, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda or Roberto Devereux. That's simply meant for a dramatic Italian coloratura. That's the mistake she has done on occasion. Singing things that is too big. May I also add that I think her voice is very beautiful, but unfortunately she is not very skilled in the bel canto style. She does things that are stylistically not very "Italian", this according to the Italians.

  • OMG!!!Where did you find this recording!!???

  • I would say this is Renee's work that I prefer.

Would be great to hear the more sparkling "Senza pace, senza speme" voice was so fresh and unique.

  • ????????????

  • afflicted but this air is transposed and not that a little....

  • I am so sorry, it was I that put that thumb down BY MISTAKE!!! I ask for your forgiveness!
