No Halloween in the Netherlands officially but it is getting some attention these days, mostly in decorating houses and holding a party.
As for trick or treat, in some areas St. Martinsday (nov 11) is popular amongst kids, going through the streets from door to door with lights and singing and getting candy. This is actually increasing even though most of the Netherlands was Protestant (and now non-religious).
I celebrate Halloween in the traditional way - I sit on my porch, with a big bucket of candy, and I do my best to scare the poop out of all the little boys and girls who come up to my door.
Those paranoid, superstitious Christian crazies again... Halloween candy cursed by witches? I guess the industry collaborates with the witches because their black magic is what actually causes the sugar cravings, eh?
I love Halloween, it's Cara's and my favorite holiday. Unfortunately we don't see much of it over here. There are a few kids in costumes going around to get candy, and there is the odd Halloween party, but not much else. No decorated houses. The majority only cares about X-mas.
Here in the great land of Pennsylvania, we do it on the Saturday night closest to Halloween. I personally just sit outside with a bowl of candy and give it out, because I don't care to sit inside when everyone is out.
i live in Norway, halloween is not a tradison. I do not cellebrate it. But the last 5-10 years stors have started selling halloween crap to make money
Pat's real name, is Marion Gordon Robertson. Pat is nothing more than a nickname. We need to start calling him by his real name, Marion!
Demonic Candy? Yeah right! Candy prayed over by witches RIGHT!
